Dogs barking
A common source of annoyance is noise caused by animals, particularly barking dogs.
Section 49 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 permits a District Court to deal with anyone who keeps a creature which is giving reasonable cause for annoyance to any person residing in the vicinity. The Court may make an Order requiring the person keeping the creature to take steps to prevent the continuance of the annoyance. It is an offence to fail to comply with the Order.
